the third letter of the Persian and Hindūstānī alphabets. It does not occur in the language or alphabet of the Arabs, and the letter f or b is substituted for it in such Persian words as are adopted into the Arabic language : thus, fārsī for pārsī, and bādshāh for pādshāh. in reckoning by abjad, pe is the same as be, viz. two.
